When shopping for real estate, be it Mississauga homes or Toronto condos, there's a lot that you need to do before you even start looking at real estate properties. You need to hire a real estate agent, meet with at least one bank or mortgage company in Canada, figure out which neighbourhoods you would like to live in and decide upon which type of real estate property you want to call home. Choosing between a home or condo is a tough decision but one that needs to be done. You can't be spending your time and resources looking at both condos and houses. It's best to pick one route and stick with it.

If you've decided that you want to one day live in a condo and have started looking at Lakeshore condos make sure you go over all the associated fees with your real estate agent. You want know exactly what is it that's included in condo fees that you have to pay. The important thing to know, and one that confuses a lot of people shopping for their first condo, is that condo fees do not cover the cost of your mortgage. It's a simple mistake to make but it is something you should be aware of when shopping for condos.

In addition to the payments you'll making for the condo you bought and the mortgage you'll be paying on your Mississauga or King West condos, there is an additional charge known as condo fees that you'll also be paying each month. Condo fees are monthly payments that you make to the condo association. These condo fees are collected to ensure that the quality of the condo building you're living in will be taken care of. Basically, condo fees cover the operating costs of the building.

The condo fees you pay can go towards a number of things. It all depends on the features your condo building has. Condo fees go towards maintaining the lawn, any building repairs, repairs that need to be done in your own condo suite, sewer and water charges, snow removal, doorman costs, gym and fitness equipment, as well as access to the gym or home entertainment suite. Whatever features your building has, condo fees cover the costs to maintain them.

Condo fees cover a whole slew of costs. Each condo building is different which is why you should ask your real estate agent what each condos fees are and what they cover when looking at Mississauga or Ajax condos for sale. You don't want to buy a condo and find out afterward that you're being charged for something you had absolutely no idea about. Also make sure to leave some space for condo fees when determining your finances to see how much you can afford to spend. Good luck!
