If you have arrived in Mississauga as the spouse or dependant of someone who is taking a job as a Mississauga dentist, you may not think, initially, that there is much Mississauga can offer to you. But in fact Mississauga is more than just a suburb. There are plenty of jobs to be had in fields as diverse as computers, art, and business. If you want to maximize your chances of getting a meaningful career, your first step should be to attend Mississauga's famous Sheridan College.

Sheridan College is a polytechnic institute, not a university, and it was only founded in 1967, but it still manages to boast enrollment numbers comparable to one of the big older universities. Over 15,000 people are studying there full time in any given semester plus a further 35,000 who are taking part time or distance learning programs in order to get a better job in family counseling in Mississauga. There are four campuses to choose from: two in Mississauga, one in Brampton, and one in Oakville, and you can either live on or off campus.

Sheridan College offers a over 130 programs at the diploma and certificate levels. You can even begin your study toward a proper degree at Sheridan College. If you would like to found your own company to build new Mississauga homes, business is the program you should choose. Other popular departments at Sheridan College include film production, animation, computing, engineering, and community studies. The animation program is one of the most highly rated in North America.

In addition to its courses of study, there are also two research institutes that are run and funded by Sheridan College. The first is the Elder Research Center, in which community studies and technology graduates apply themselves to the everyday problems faced by seniors in our society. The second center needs more funding than an ACH account can provide, as it is dedicated to film. It is called the Screen Industries Research and Training Center and it is dedicated to developing and improving film industry technology.

If you think that only a university degree can help you to go on to become a successful and well known member of your profession, think again. Some of the graduates of Sheridan College have gone on to do more than take out a mortgage in Canada and raise kids. They include comedian and television actor Brent Butt, several animators and directors at the animation company Pixar, and an Emmy nominated CNN creative director.
